Job Description
CSBio is a peptide contract manufacturing founded in 1993. Our initial products were a complete line of automated synthesizers for manufacturing and process development, with a focus on cGMP production. In 1994, we opened our custom peptide facility and began producing high quality compounds for research organizations and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. In 2004, we opened our peptide production facility in Menlo Park, CA and in 2014, we expanded our production capability through the addition of a new, state of the art building dedicated to cGMP peptide production. In 2017, we passed a FDA inspection and were recommended to be approved for commercial drug substance manufacturing. In 2023, we added additional cGMP clinical production capacity in Milpitas, CA.
Job Duties:
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts , partnering with functional leaders across R&D, manufacturing, and G&A.
- Develop and maintain long-range financial models aligned with strategic plans, product timelines, and fundraising needs.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP (or IFRS), ensuring accuracy and transparency.
- Manage the monthly close process , including revenue recognition, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Monitor cash flow, burn rate, and liquidity , and lead treasury operations including banking and credit facility oversight.
- Own board, investor, and executive financial reporting , including KPI dashboards, scenario models, and fundraising support materials.
- Evaluate capital investments, clinical programs, and M&A/licensing opportunities through business case modeling and ROI analysis.
- Support pipeline and R&D program decision-making with cost tracking by indication or program and milestone modeling.
- Oversee clinical trial and regulatory budgeting , including vendor management, CRO payments, and regulatory fee forecasts.
- Manage COGS modeling and inventory accounting , especially for CDMO, diagnostic, or commercial-stage operations.
- Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance , including coordination with external auditors and SOX/internal controls as needed.
- Lead and grow the finance and accounting team , developing capabilities in FP&A, GL, AP/AR, and procurement where applicable.
- Drive ERP and financial systems implementation or optimization , ensuring scalability and strong internal controls.
- Support pricing strategy and commercialization planning , including cost-plus, value-based, or ASP modeling where applicable.
- Act as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team , aligning financial insights with business strategy, risk management, and capital planning.

Requirements
- Education & Credentials : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Industry Experience : 8–12 years of progressive finance experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role within life sciences (biotech, pharma, CDMO, or diagnostics).
- Technical Expertise : Strong command of financial planning, GAAP reporting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).
- Sector Knowledge : Deep understanding of R&D cost tracking, clinical trial budgeting, COGS modeling, and commercialization finance in regulated environments.
- Analytical & Communication Skills : Advanced Excel and modeling proficiency; able to translate complex data into clear insights for executives, investors, and cross-functional teams.
