College/Department Information Researching Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Stroke, Hypertension, Diabetes... With the increasing frequency of obesity and diabetes, especially in Georgia, cardiovascular disease is reaching epidemic proportions. The Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University knows the demand is high for new and better treatments. Our internationally recognized team of research experts have one goal - to make breakthroughs in the prevention and treatment of disease so that we all may live longer, healthier lives.
Job Summary Maintain a clean and tidy lab environment (picking up and delivering research packages to making simple solutions and stocking the laboratory with essential items for experiments to be properly carried out). Assist in cell culture, tissue collection, and following assays.
Responsibilities Responsibilities to include but not limited to: Mouse colony maintenance, genotyping and inventory updates. Collect issue samples from mice and perform molecular and histopathological experiments.
Assistance in cell culture, Western blot.
Frozen sectioning; immunostaining.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications Cell culture, mouse tissue collection, and molecular cell biology techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.
SKILLS Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritization skills.
ABILITIES Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability and willingness to work with research animals.
Ability to complete work, meet deadlines and work independently with only general supervision.
Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $17.88-$21.92 per hour.
Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
